Hi Nicolas,

Since I do not write in French, I must respond in English. There are several Champenois families in the United States of America whose origin is certainly France. My ancestors came from Beaugency, France, in about 1801 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania then down to Mobile, Alabama, where there were many French settlers. Eventually, some Champenois went to Mississippi then Texas.

There are other Champenois who came to America much earlier and fought in the Revoutionary War against the British. Some Champenois are found in Michigan, New Jersey and New York. The ones in Michigan now spell their name as "Champanois".

I live in California, although I am a born Texan.

Send me an email and I will try to learn the French language in order to better communicate. I speak fluent Spanish if that helps.
