Hi Jeff, my 1st cousin Ruth Higgens found a website listing for voters of Shasta County, CA. It lists Joseph, age 35, born NY, Farmer, (Janesville, CA), 8-30-1875 (registration date). It also lists John, age 65, NY, Farmer, Janesville, 8-30-1875. Also, Index to Federal Land Records (Colusa County, CA), California Land Patents Database lists John on 11/10/1873 & Joseph on 6/1/1874 (same township & range). The voter regist. would indicate John's DOB 1810 & Joseph's DOB 1840. We know they came from the East coast, but that's as far as we've gotten. Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you, Heather
