Pierre (Peter in America) Isaac Champenois was born on 1 August 1769 in Beaugency, France. We know that he immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in about 1801 and 1816 officially became a US citizen. He married Mary Bush and had 2 daughters and 1 son. He then dparted Philadelphia in about 1817 and landed in Mobile, Alabama, marrying once again to Drusilla Pipkin. Drusilla was born 4 Jan 1804 in Greene County, Mississippi. Together, Peter and Drusilla had another 3 children, Isaac, Simon Peter and Martha Maria.
What we do not know is who the parents of Peter Isaac were in France. I have corresponded with Ludovic Champenois who is from France and whose ancestors also came from Beaugency, but he and his relatives do not know of a Champenois who left for America. Somehow, and with someone's piece of the puzzle, we need to still find out Peter's parents. Can someone assist us?
