Dear Les,
The Mary Champney who married Theophilus Richardson 2 May 1654, was the daughter of John Champney and his wife, Joan _____. Mary was born in Cambridge in Oct. 1835, probably shortly after her parents arrived in Mass. Her father died by 1643(remarriage of his widow). For more details check Robert C Anderson's The Great Migration, Vol. II, pp. 37-39.
No proof, but it is speculated that John Champney was related to the Elder Richard Champney who came to Cambridge from Stisted, Essex, England by Feb. 1635. See same reference pp. 39-46.
