Champneys of UK - Kent, London and Somerset

My interest in the Champneys starts with an ancestor Virginea Julian Dalrymple marrying Frances Henry Champneys in 1878. I have been able (with the help of a colleague) to trace the Champneys/Champnes line back to Thomas Champnes born Abt. 1587.

These families came primarily from Orchardleigh, Somerset, England; Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex; and Ostenhanger Kent.

I have been told that Thomas Champnes is related to Sir John Champneys, Lord Mayor of London in 1534, but I am stuck!

Can anyone help - are you researching the same line?
