I am trying to find anything about a Richard Champney of Portsmouth Rockingham New Hampshire who lived during the period of 1773-1800's.
My 6th great grandfather William Chamberlin in 1773 in Rochester Strafford New Hampshire was Richard's trustee and represented him in regards to an unpaid inn bill.
Richard went on to be the one who guarded the gate in 1774 at Fort William and Mary in New Castle Rockingham New Hampshire during the first open rebellion againest the oppressive British rule.
While he does not appear to be related to my family I have gained a curiousity about him and would appreciate any help in learning more about this interesting man.
