I did a little more looking and John Chandler may have been John Reeder Chandler married to Malinda Gilmore. You can look up the family on Rootsweb. Also, there was a John R. Chandler with wife Amanda in the 1910 census Daviess County, Van Buren Township Indiana. They married in 1902, so it appears that he was widowed and remarried. One of the descendants of John Reeder Chandler ended up in Greene County Indiana according to that Rootsweb tree.

There are a lot of errors in both the census and in family personal histories so it is possible that Malinda was Matilda or vice versa. John Reeder Chandler's father was from South Carolina according to the census.

There may have been yet another wife, 45 year old Bell in the 1920 Indiana census.

You will just have to muddle through to figure out if this is your family. Sometimes you climb a lot of wrong trees before you get the right one.

Carol
