Can you tell me which Chandler family your ancestor descended from? There are many William and Annis Chandler descendants and a few descendants of Edmund Chandler of Duxbury Mass in Vermont. These are the only New England Chandler families which have been identified by DNA testing so far.

Our group, the Edmund Chandler Family Association, www.edmundchandler.com, and our sister group, The Chandler Family Association, www.thecfa.org, work together on the Chandler DNA project.

We are currently trying to find a male Chandler surnamed descendant of Roger Chandler of Concord, Mass to test. We wish to see if Roger of Concord descendants match the Edmund Chandler descendants.

If your match is with Edmund's family it is possible that your ancestor either descends directly from Edmund or from Roger Chandler of Concord if it turns out that Edmund and Roger are related, or theoretically possible, but unlikely, a previously unknown member of the greater Edmund Chandler family.

Of course, it may turn out that the Roger of Concord descendants do not match anyone tested so far, or match another previously tested Chandler family.

If you supply us with more information, we will probably be able to help you.

Co-chairperson of the Edmund Chandler Family Association
