Here are some wills, Timothy Chandler and others related:

WILL OF TIMOTHY CHANDLER OF CAROLINE COUNTY, VA

In the Name of God Amen I Timothy Chandler of Caroline county being in perfect health and memory thanks be to God for the same doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the manner and following Revoking all other Wills and Testaments by me heartofore maid first I bequeath my Soul into the hands of my Saviour Jesus Christ hoping for a full pardon of all my sins at the Resurrection of the just and my Body to be Decently Entered at the Descretion of my Executors hearafter Named and as for my Temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to Bless me with all after my Debts Legasies funeral Charges are paid I have in manner and form following Viz:

Item I give and Bequeath unto my sons Joseph Chandler and Robert Chandler all that tract and Percell of Land in Orange County containing seaven hundred Acres to be eaqmlly Divided Between them both Joseph Chandler to have that part whereon he now lives to them and Their Heirs forever.

Item I give and Bequeath to my son Richard Woolfolk Chandler the Tract and percell of Land and a Mill which is thereon the Land whereon I now live to him and his Heirs forever only his Mother Justine Chandler my Beloved Wife to have her Natural life thereon.

Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Joseph Chandler one Negro Boy Named Isaac and two Negro Girls named Eane and Rhoda and their Increes to him and his Heirs forever.

Item I give and Bequeath to my son Richd W. Chandler One Negro, Boy Named Samson and Two Negro Girls Named Grace and Visca and their Increas to him and his Heirs for Ever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Son Robert Chandler One Negro Wench Named Peg and her Inereas and One Negro Boy Named Glosser to him and his Heirs forever.

Item I lend to my Daughter Betty Banks one Negro Wench Named Deynor and Negro Girl Named Lilley and their Increas During her Natural life and after her natural Life is Ended I give them to her Heir or Heirs of her Body to be equally Divided amongst them and their Heirs forever But for want of Such Heir or Heirs of her body then to return to my three Sons Joseph Chandler Richd W. Chandler Robert Chandler to be equally, Divided between them and their Heirs for Ever.

Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Robert Chandler Eight Pounds to be Raised out of my Estate to repair his plantation in Orange County.

Item Now as my Son Joseph Chandler and My Daughter-Betty Banks has Each of them a Bed and furniture I also give to my other two Sons Richd W. Chandler and Robert Chandler each of them a Bed and furniture.

Item I also give my stock in Orange Between my two Sons Joseph and Robert Chandler to be Equally Divided Between them and their Heirs for Ever.

Item I also give and Bequeath to my son Richd W. Chandler and my Daughter Betty Banks my Stock where I now live Except the Sheep after my Beloved Wife Justine Chandler Deceased the Sheep to be equally Divided amongst all my children.

Item I also lend to my Beloved wife Justine Chandler the Remainder Part of my Estate both real and Personal Which I have not already will’d to her During her Natural Life and at her Deceas the Negroes for to be Eaqually Divided between my Three Sons Joseph Chandler, Richd W. Chandler and Robert Chandler to them and their Heirs for Ever and my Personal Estate to be Eaqually Divided Between them all Namely Joseph. Chandler Richd Chandler and Robert Chandler and Betty Banks to them and their Heirs forever.

Item I do also appoint my Loving Wife and my Son Richd W. Chandler my executors of this my Last will and testament Revokng all Other Wills beartofore maid in Testimony whereof I have hearunto set my hand and Seal this fourteenth Day of November in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seaven Hundred and fifty Seaven &c.

WILL OF ROBERT CHANDLER OF CAROLINE COUNTY.

In the name of God amen I Robert Chandler of Caroline County being in perfect health and memory thanks to be God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form following revoking all other wills and testament by me heretofore made. First I bequeath my soul into the hands of my Saviour Jesus Christ hoping for a full pardon of all my sins at the resurrection of the just and my body to be decently interred at the discretion of my executos hereafter named and as for my temporal estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with all after my debts legacies funeral charges are paid I leave in manner and form following viz

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Chandler two negroes Davy and Monk to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my son William Chandler two negros Gabriel & James to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Edmund Chandler two negroes Lewey and Judy and part of the tract of land whereon I live, above the road from where the school house stood, to the land that was fornmrly Martin Hacketts containing two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less and a bed and furniture one cow and calf, and sow and pigs, one dish and six plates and three chairs to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Robert Chandler the remainder part of that tract of land where I now live below the road from the school house on the east side of the road, containing one hundred and ninety acres be the same more or less. I also give him five negros Gloster Tom and Phillis and her children Molley and Judy and all their increase, a bed and furniture one cow and calf, one Yoke of steers and cows, one large walnut table, one dish and six plates and three chairs to him and his heirs forever.

Item I leave to my Daughter Molley Bibb three negroes during her natural life Peg and Delsey and her child Woodson and at her death I give them to her heir or heirs of her body to them and their heirs forever, but for want of surh heir or heirs of lawfull age to possess them then to return to my estate to be divided amongst all my children to them and their heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Chandler five negros a wench named Patt and Easter and her three children Is and Chaney and Barnett and all their increase I also give her two beds and furniture and all the bed Quilts she has made for herself or Counterpanes as she claims her own. I also give her a sorrell mare and bay Horse the fold of the mare, also a Cow and Calf one dish and six plates to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give to Anne Brown for services done that Land I purchased of Lucy Chiles containing thirty, seven acres, likewise one bed and furniture, with a Copaass(?) Decorated Conunterpin and all the bed covers as she claims as her own making, also a beast of ten pounds value and one Cow one lunch Table and looking Glass and twenty pnmds cash to be raised out of my estate and paid to her for money I borrowed some years ago to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give to William Chandler and Edmund Chandler one negro fellow named Gene’l to be equally divided between these two.

Item And it is my desire that all my sheep may be divided between William Chandler, Edmund Chandler, Robert Chandler and Lucy Chandler, as the rest have had part of the Stock and the rest of my estate which I have not willed away after my debts are paid to be equally divided amongst my children named Henry Chandler, William Chandler, Edmund Chandler, Robert Chandler, and Fanny Hackett, Sally Jones, Molley Bibb, and Lucy Chandler, to them and their heirs forever.

Item I do also appoint William Chandler and Jobn Brown my executors of this my last will and Testament, whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ___ in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two.

At a Court held for Caroline County on the 13th day of September 1803, This Will was presented to the Court for probate and it being proven by the oaths of Samuel Chiles, Thnothy Chandler, Matthew Campbell and Thomas Hackett to be wholly written in the hand writing of the said Robert Chandler the testator it is admitted to record on the motion of William Chandler one of the executors herein named on his taking the oath prescribed by law a certificate for obtaining a probate is granted him Bond acknowledged and ordered to be recorded.

WILL OF WILLIAM CHANDLER 1st Will

In the name of God Amen I William Chandler of Caroline County do make this as my last will and Testament as follows, that is to say, my desire is that my wife have all my lands during her life except a piece on Pole Cat about om hundred acres, but in case she inter-marries, that she then be put to her thirds, and that the portion which may be allotted to her, be takenout of this tract on which I reside.

Item It is my desire that after my wife's death or intermarriage, that the land left to her should fall to my son Thomas Chandler.

Item I give to my two daughters Lucy and Rebecca Chandler five hundred dollars each with interest thereon, payable to them at the end of four years from my death, and that my Pole-Cat land be sold on twelve months credit to raise the money.

Item It is my will and desire that as soon as either of my daughters Lucy and Rebecca should marry or come to age that they be made Equal to the advancement made to my daughter Coleman in the Slaves I have koned her or as nearly as could be conveniently done in the allottnwnt of Slaves.

Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth Coleman one hundred and twenty five dollars to be raised out of my estate, which with the money already advanced to her, is intended to make her equal with my two younger daughters in the gift to them of five hundred dollars each.

Item I give to my three daughters to wit. Elizabeth Coleman, Lucy Thomas, and Rebecca Chandler Fifty pounds each to be raised out of my estate at the death or marriage of my wife.

Item All the Rest and Residue of my estate I lend my wife during her life or widowhood, and at her death or marriage I desire it may be Equally divided among all my childrm to wit. Elizabeth Coleman, Lucy Thomas, & Rtbeeca Chandler.

Item If any, of my daughters should die without Leavinir lawful issue my will and desire is their part of my estate shall return to the surviving Children or their heirs to be Equally divided.

And lastly I appotat my wife Nancy Chandler execuuix and Son Thomas Chandler when he shall arrive to Age executor to this will.

In Wittness whereof I have hereunto set my seat this 28 July, 1815.

WILL OF WILLIAM CHANDLER 2ND WILL
In the name of God amen, I William Chandler of the County of Caroline, being sick but of sound mind do make this my last will.

Imprimis: I leave to my beloved wife Nancy Chandler during her life all the land that I own on the North side of Pole Cat Creek, together with the interest I hold in the land I purchased of the heirs of John Chiles, Deceased.

Item I give to my Daughter Elizabeth Coleman at the death of my wife, one hundred and eight acres of land purchased of John G. Chiles, together with all the land within the following bounds; Commencing at the cormr on the road on the lower end of the land purchased of John Loughlin, thence to Loughlin,s Spring, from thence with the swamp to Samuel Chiles line, from thence to the beginning, containing or supposed to contain forty or forty-five acres to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give to my Daughter Lucy Chandler at the death of my wIfe, all the land purchased of John Laughlin and William Sale (except part already disposed of to my Daughter Elizabeth Coleman) to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give to my daughter Rebekah Smith (at the death of my wife) the tract of land whereon I now live, containing about one hundred and sixty acres, together with all the Interest I have in the land purchased of the heirs of John Chiles deed to her heirs forever.

Item I give to my son Thos. C. Chandler all my land on the southside of Pole Cat Creek which I purchased of the heirs and Distributors of George Cleer dec,d., containing about three hundred and twenty-five acres, together with all interest that I hereafter have in the land, by purchase of the heir of their interest in the widow's dower to him and his heirs forever.

Item My will and desire is that my children as they marry be made equal to the advancement to my daughter, Elizabeth Coleman at the time of her marriage.

Item All the rest of my estate not already disposed of (after, the payment of debts) I leave to my wife during her life and at her death to be equally divided between all my children, and Lastly I appoint any son Thomas C. Chandler Executor of this my will.

In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 31st December 1821.

Caroline County Court December 31st, 1821.

Whearas William Chandler on the 31st December 1821 made his last will and Testament, and subscribed the same, in the presence of one witness, under a belief that one was sufficient to submit it to record, but since his ,death, it appears to us; as a will of real estate.

We therefore the widow, heirs and distributors of the said William Chandler deceased, do hereby covenant & agree that the said will shall be recorded as a will of real Estate, and be as valid and binding on us, or heirs & assigns as though the same had been attested, by the number of witnesses required by “Acts of Assembly concerning Wills, the Distribution of intestates and the duty of Executors and administrators."

In witness we have hereunto set our hands and seal this 11th February 1822
