I found a copy of the original Michigan marriage record for them on the www.familysearch.org site. Go to the top and click on searches. Then click the pilot search. This is their new site (still has bugs, but growing daily). You can click and see a copy of the original document. It is free. D. Oliver's parents were Alexander Bigelow Chandler and Martha Orcutt. D. Oliver was born in 1890 in Michigan. His father was born June 1844 in New York, Martha was born in Indiana according to the 1900 census. Also free on the pilot site. Oliver's name was mangled beyond recognition in that census. There was also a Samuel Chandler listed in the census near their names, different household, that appears to be related. Older brother to Alexander maybe. You will find Alexander again listed with his parents, Samuel, a lawyer, and mother Huldah in the Cattaraugus, New York 1850 US census. It appears that Samuel was born in New Hampshire. He may be one of our Chandlers (I belong to the Edmund Chandler Family Association www.edmundchandler.com), but more likely descends from William and Annis Chandler as they were so prolific. There were also a couple of other early arriving Chandler families, but they also were not as prolific. You can read about the early New England Chandler families on our site. I found this (below) on Familysearch, the regular site, also free. I have not verified the info, often the family trees are loaded with errors, but some are pretty good. You just have to check out the info. 4 Samuel Chandler Birth: Marriage: Death: 9 2 Samuel Chandler Birth: 07 JUL 1803 Hillsboro, Hillsboro, New Hampshire Marriage: 27 APR 1843 Death: 22 JAN 1874 Family 10 5 Sarah Jacques Birth: Death: 1 Alexander Bigelow Chandler Birth: 27 JUN 1844 Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, New York Marriage: 09 NOV 1869 Death: 11 Family Martha June Orcut Birth: Death: 12 6 Rufus Sherbur Birth: Marriage: Death: 13 3 Family Huldah Ann Sherbur Birth: 21 AUG 1817 Of, Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, New York Death: Family 14 7 Mary Ann Phinney Birth: Death: 15 Let me know if you find a link to Edmund. We also participate in the Chandler DNA project for all Chandlers. If you have a male surnamed Chandler in your family and you are interested in the study you can read about it on our site or contact us. Happy hunting!
