My Brown line came from NY originally, and settled in Ontario after the Rev. War. They were either Loyalists or Quakers, or both. The earliest was named Caleb, who married an Anna Way. We haven't been able to get beyond them. So can't help you with your Maine Browns. But I'll try to keep them in mind, just in case I happen to run across those names. I recall seeing charts for Jacob Brown, also (I think) of New York.

Also, the History of Hillsboro" you mentioned...which state?
