Hello Brandon,

I, too, will post to your recent query.

You most likely have the 1850 census which shows the John/Malina family.

1850 CENSUS
District 2, Henderson Co, KY, p. 337:
CHANDLER
John, 45, NC
Malena, 39, NC
Weldon, 21, NC
Martha, 17, NC
Weldon and Martha both marked as married within the year.

It would seem that John was born c1805 in NC, Malina was born c1811 in NC, and their son Weldon was born c1829 also in NC.

Also listed in Henderson Co in 1850 is one Atlas Chandler b. c1815 in NC and wife Harriet b. NC. Couple's first son listed is Wesley b. c1836 in NC. So it would seem that this Atlas might be a younger brother to your John and that these Chandlers left NC after 1830 and before 1840 because I do see Atlas, David, Lewis, and Washington Chandler listed in 1840 in Hopkins Co, KY.

In your search you must have looked at all the postings at rootsweb.com regarding your John b. 1805 NC. If not, I would go to that site and try to contact some of those posters, keeping in mind that much of what is posted there is copied from others over and over again with no real documentation.

I see at rootsweb that most posters have attached your John b. c1805 (plus brothers Atlas, David, Lewis, Washington, and other siblings) to parents John Chandler and Rebecca McVey who married 22 Oct 1800 in Person Co, NC. This is a place to look for leads, clues, and documentation.

Cheryl
