My paternal grandmother was Helen Martin Cherry, dau of Martin Cherry, son of Walter Cherry, who was the son of Silas Cherry, thought to be the son of Isiah Cherry, all of the Norfolk-Deep Creek area. Do you have any info on this line? I am having difficulty verifying Martin was a veteran of the Civil War.
Martin's sister, Mary Francis Cherry, married Robert S. Parkerson and they are my great grandparents!!

I have found a record of the marriage of a Silas Cherry to Margaret Culpepper on 21 Dec 1811 in Norfolk. Could that be your Silas?
