Does this information ring a bell to anyone?
Thomas B. Childress married Maria Cocke in
Greene County Alabama. They have 5 sons James,
Herbert, Thomas, Jefferson, and Henry. 1850 Marengo
County Albama census has a M.A. Childress with
5 sons. The father Thomas B. must have died between
1845 and 1850. M.A. Childress is Maria Cocke. She is
buried in Greensboro Cemetery. I am hoping the
Thomas is my ancesstor. My Thomas Childress was in
Rankin County Mississippi in 1854 and married a Sarah.
There was a James Childress in Rankin County also.
In a Rankin County book in the library it has a page
that says they don't know why the Childress's came
to Rankin County from Marengo County Alabama.
