Hello,

Thank you--I hope you will eventually find your proof--I don't know whether you have any interest in DNA testing or not, but several descendants of Pleasant Childers/Childress have been tested.

They belong to the Anglo-Saxon 7 English subgroup of Haplogroup I1 (until recently known as I1a), as do other members of the Childers family who believe they are descended from Abraham or Philemon Childers of Henrico Co.

My Britton family (also from Henrico in the 17th century, lived near the Childers and would have known members of the family)belongs to AS7E, too.

We have identified 21 other families in the group, which is quite small and shares a common ancestor born probably 1300 years ago. Some of the families in the group have a common ancestor who lived more recently.

I started an AS7E project at Ancestry last month which is open to anyone in the AS7E group, whether or not he has been DNA tested and regardless of where he has been tested.

If you would like to join, you may write to me or use this link to request membership:

THere is no cost or obligation--members are not required to buy DNA tests from Ancestry or subscribe to any of Ancestry's services.
