I am interested in knowing about Thomas Childress, a. 66 (b. S. C.) on the 1850 Benton County, TN. census. He is shown married to Mary a. 50. (They also have a dau Roxanah, age 16).

The reason I am interested is that my great grandmother, Louisa Childress / Childers? (b. 1829, TN) married in Benton Co, in 1845. I don't know who her parents were. She married James Yarbrough.

I realize that this means she was married and moved out of the house 5 years before the 1850 census was taken but her marriage record shows that she was married BY Elijah Alsup. The 1850 census shows Elijah Alsup is household #824 and Thomas and Mary were household # 825.

On the 1880 census, Louisa says her father was born in TN but I feel like there must be a connection.
