I have a letter from Thomas S. Bocock dated 25 Jul 1850. From what I can gather through brief online research, I believe he was a member of the House of Representatives from Virginia around 1850 & later became Speaker of the House of Representatives sometime around the Civil War. I don't know who the letter was sent to, but my great aunt Virginia Butler Priddy gave it to my father many years ago (if I remember correctly, sometime in the 1970s). The letter is interesting, aside from it's age & the obvious education & intelligence of the writer, because it discusses several of the issues that led to the Civil War. If anyone would like to read it, it can be found on my genealogy website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/misc/tsbltr1850/tsb1850ltr.html Susan :) Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.html Notify Administrator about this message?
