James FitzSimons or Fitzsimons was born in Scotland in the early 1800s. He was a laboror building ships. In the Civil War he worked on a ship keeping records/logs/quartermaster. This led to a later life as a newspaper man. He had a son, Thomas William and a dtr. Mary Ann. Thomas William's wives were 1. Elizabeth Hanover and 2. Abigail Stokes. Thomas William & family lived in Auburn, California (Placer Co.). Then he moved on to Nebraska where he died. Thomas William was the grandfather of Jean Stanford who wrote about this family back in the 1980s but has lost the information. If you can help, contact lymaxwell@sbcglobal
