This is interesting information. I do not think they were rich, nor influential, altho the letter said the son of old Civil War George was well read and well informed.
We aren't even sure if the Sergeant is really him, right now just speculating.
Thank you all very much. I am going to keep digging.
Any more tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
