According the Confederate records at NARA on Fooymote.com Thomas Ford at age 27 musterd as a 3rd sgt into Captain William Davis' Company, 2nd Regiment Mississippi Volunteers* on May 10,1861. He had enrolled on May 1,1861 at Tippah County, Ms for 1 yr dervice. Eventually served companies A, F, G.
He gave his occupation as a Planter.
On Sept-Oct roll.1861 he is listed as 1st Lt.
Discharged for expiration of service April 25,1862.

*Later designated as 2nd Mississippi Infantry Regiment.

There ar 2 Thomas Ford's living in Tippah County in the 1860 census. Both List occupation as Farmer.
1 living with an unrelated family, the other with his own family.
