I do not have knowledge of a Claflin changing to Claffey; however, a John Claflin, Rev. War soldier (son of Cornelius) b. in Framingham, MA died 07 Feb 1841 in Mendon, New York. At the time of John's death my ancestor, Peter Claffey, was a young man living in the same small village. This info was given me by a Claflin researcher who thought there might be a connection due to misspellings, etc. These Monroe Co., NY Claflin people came from Massachusetts.
