David, The following data is proved in primary sources and is not made up. Johan Georg Gobel/Kobel/Coble, born circa 1692; Baptized 4 June 1693 in Hoffenheim, Germany married Maria Barbara Geisler on 13 May 1716 d/o Peter Geisler in Germany. They had 12 children, but only the following survived to arrive in Philadelphia 1733. Their children were:Antonius/Anthony. Anna Maria/Mary. Georg Adam/Adam; Hans Georg/George. The last child of this couple was born in PA on 28 Aug. 1734 and was named Johannes, or John as he would be called in America. All the male children came to NC to the area that is now Alamance, Guilford, Randolph and probably Chatham counties, and Old Orange County. Mother Barbara died in PA before 1761. Father George mrried secondly Anna Barbara Witmer Loffel/Spoon, widow of Christian Loffel who were the parents of the girl Adam Coble married: Anna Margaretha Loffel spoon 13 May 1754. These male children married and had scads of children, who named their children after themselves and their families, so when you ask if the real Adam Coble will rise, very many men named Adam Coble will stand. To add to the problem is that Father George had a half-brother named Johan Nicholas Kobel when he married Anna Dorothea Crafft on 21 November 1724. Their children were: Johann Jacob, bap. 26 Nov. 1730; Johann Georg b. 10 May 1733; Johann Nicholas b. 5 June 1737;died 174-; Anna Catharina b. 1 May 1739, marreid 15 [?] Sept. 1761 [?]; Anna Maria b. 1742 d. 1742; and Anna Maria b. 1745; [this one did live but I have no further data on her] Sons Jacob and George came into NC. Don't know anything else about son Jacob, but son George married Barbara Gleiss/Glass and when he died he was buried ata Coble's Lutheran Church in Guilford County. GEORGE COBLE B 1693 AND NICHOLAS COBLE B. 1701 ARE HALF-BROTHERS. THEREFORE THEIR CHILDREN ARE HALF-FIRST COUSINS. George and his 4 sons came to NC first, circa 1750 or so; Nicholas and his 2 sons arrived somehwhat later. Your query cannot be answered by me because I have never pursued ALL THE COBLE LINES, but I thought I would set your straight on the ACUTAL LINEAGE of the Immigrant and his family.
