My Grandmother, Dorothy May Brydon (Monroe)(1933) died in 2000. While sorting out her possessions, we came across two pages of Cochran Family History, written by a distant relative that did not name herself. My mother promptly pocketed the papers, and has kept them for the last few years. Recently, my mother found out that I was doing Geneology research on my father's side, and insisted that researching our side would be much better, since we had those papers. Sadly, she was only able to find one. I have some of the names and dates for the West Virginia line of Cochrans, from Nathaniel (1757),to his son John (1798), and so on. We came to a place on the paper where an Alfred Lee Cochran (1823) is mentioned, married to a Diadama Straight, with a notation that reads "My grandparents, Nelson's parents". At the end of the page, a Nelson Marcellus Cochran is mentioned, but I have not been able to link him to Alfred and Diadama. I also have not been able to link Alfred to the line decending from Nathaniel and John. On the flip side, from the present family, we have only been able to trace back to my Great Grandmother, Leota May Cochran (1904), who married Clifford Harold Monroe (1902). Grandma Dorothy mentioned that Leota's mother may have been a Jones. I would certainly appreciate any help on connecting the past to the present if anyone else has information on this tree.
