Cochran Ancestors

In receiving a copy of partial family tree info, I find
that my Paternal (are you ready?) great, great, great,
great, great grandparents came to America in the late
1600's from Carikell, Londonderry County, Ireland. Their
last name was Cochran. John Cochran (son or grandson) of
the family from Ireland was born 1740 and served in the
Revolutionary War at Valley Forge. He died in 1784. He
was married to Sarah Miller in 1765. I would like more
information on the ORIGINAL immigrating Cochrans from
Ireland so that I can find out if I have any distant
living relatives in Ireland. My maiden name was Matthews,
I was told also that the Matthews came from Ireland but
cannot find information on them. Help me if you can. Please!
