Family Research 1800-1816 - Harwick, Scotland

Greetings, I live in Sudbury, Ontario Canada and am trying to research our family history. We have been able to get back to around 1820 within Canada, but are stuck.

My great, great grandfather was a William Scott, said to have been from Harwick, Scotland. He apparently immigrated to the USA sometime around 1816. We are not certain where he settled, but have a reference stating that he and his wife were buried in Putnam County, NY, USA.

His wife's name was Agnes, and they had three sons, David, Walter and Peter Scott. Also two daughters whose names we do not know. David and Peter Scott left the USA to settle in Canada sometime around 1820. Peter Scotts wife was Nancy Baker Sumnar, whose parents were William Sumnar and Patience Johnson, who resided in Keene, NH

Can anyone suggest where in Harwick we might research further on William and Agnes Scott (maiden name unknown)?

Thank you much,

Pat Scott
