Cochrane as female first name

I have come across 4 females in my tree whose first name was Cochrane. This seems unusual and I assume connected with the surname. I can find no links to anyone with the surname Cochrane in this line, though.

These all lived in Midlothian, Scotland from about 1750 - 1850.

Has anyone else discovered anything similar?
