I am researching a letter from Thaddeus Stevens [lawyer, congressman, abolitionist] to Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax. The letter is dated May 10, 1867, Lancaster, PA.
In it Stevens introduces his friend J.J. COCHRANE, ESQ. who asks Stevens to convey "the wishes of our people to hear you lecture..."
Can anyone tell me about this J.J. Cochrane, Esq.?
