I was a Cockcroft. My grandfather was James Cockcroft, married Emily Greaves.
James was born in Todmorden in 1867, his father was John Cockcroft, also born in Todmorden in about 1843.John married Rebecca Alice.
All the family, (as far as I know) stayed in the area.
James had 7 children.
Sir John Cockcroft (the nuclear scientist) was a cousin I believe of my fathers, also from Todmorden.
