Hi, Linda. Hope I can give you some information that will be helpful. First, Miranda Palestine was not Cockerham; she was Conley, daughter of Elizabeth A. Cockerham Conley and William Hollen Conley. Elizabeth was daughter of William and Charity. I have worked for years to place William into a specific Cockerham family but have never been able to do so. Charity was daughter of James Jennings and Charity Burch, Surry Co NC. James Jennings was a Revolutionary War veteran and has a pension application. Charity Burch was daughter of John Burch and Charity Woodson, who were married in Cumberland Co VA ca 1756.
