According to some geneaology records in my family, Capt. William Cockerham of Surry Co. VA had two sons, William & Thomas. Capt. Cockerham died sometime prior to 5-13-1659. His great-grandson(?) was one Edward Cockram whose will was proved 7-1-1816, left his estate to his widow, Mary, and 10 children: Leah, Nathan, Isham, Rachael, Lydia, Preston, Mary, Edward Jr., Charlotte and Sarah. Edward Jr. married one Mary Rakes in 1806 and had 9 children: Mary, Rhoda, Nathan, Anna, Patsy, Harden, Arta, Edward III, and Charles. Charles married Ruth Radford in the mid 1800's and had 8 children: Andrew Jackson, Michael, Malinda, Martha, Robert Edward (R.E.), Rachael, Isaiah and Mary Eleandor. R.E. married Virginia Belle Pack in late 1800's and had 13 children, the 5th being Michael Alexander Cochran, my great-grandfather. If you have further information for the years between 1659 and 1788, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
