Cockerham Family Genealogy Forum

Thank you very much for your post. I'm afraid I'm no help here. As you have already learned, the records are quite scarce during the early 1700s. I don't recognize your folks, but my own Cockerham line apparently doesn't connect to Capt. William. All I have in my files are the lists of children of William Cockerham III and Thomas Cockerham who mention. As for male descendants William III and Hannah Rodgers may have had a son Nathaniel and possibly a son Matthew (also a daughter Mary). William III apparently married a second time to a wife named Mary and then had William Cockerham b. ca 1689/90 Surry Co. VA who married Mary Winn 1717/18 VA who was the daughter of Col. William Wynne. We think these folks are the ancestors of the Cockerhams in Mississippi and Texas for the most part, having moved through South Carolina. Thomas Cockerham who left will probated 15 May 1717 Perquimans Precinct, NC married Elizabeth (widow of --- Benson, father of Samuel Benson)and had a son Timothy Cockerham, also daughters Ann Priscilla, and Elizabeth. Our cousin Corbet Cochran Jr. in Redwood City, CA is still working on these early generations. I can give you his address if you will contact me directly and I can also since you an attachment of my brief file on the earlier generations if you wish. Where did the later folks that you list live??
