The history prior to about 1750 as you can see contains considerable speculation at best. It would be nice to have a few more records, but I think we've about gathered the crop. I'll make the corrections to the Welborn information if all else appears in order to you. I really appreciate your input. I try to keep this file handy for some of the inquiries I get from descendants of these Lunenburg folks and also to keep my own family contained. Two many Cockerhams lived in the same patch of woods with no apparent connection unless it was before the 1750s era in Lunenburg. As I'm sure you know, the Welborn name and it's varient spellings is still quite common in western North Carolina. I look forward to learning more from you and will be happy to share any of my data.
