I have Duffy's parents as being (f) Samuel Cockerham b. abt 1841 (m) Rutha Smith, Jan 11, 1868. They were married by F.J. Dick, Justice of the Peace (Ref. Surry County Marriages 1779-1868 page 38.

I also have Samuel's Parents being as William Cockerham m. Nancy Lowe. (Surry County Civil War Soliders p. 36)
Nancy was born abt 1821.

Nancy's parents are said to be Samuel Lowe (1785-1857) & Sallie Hayes.

Sallie's parents are said to be Jacob Hayes & Elizabeth Rector.

This is the info I have on Samuel Cockerham. I am quoting from the Book "Surry County Soldiers in the Civil War, page 40"

Samuel Cockerham PVT
CO D 37 VA BATT

Samuel Cockerham was born in 1841 to William and Nancy Lowe Cockerham of Lowgap. Samuel was a farmer.

He entered service 15 Sept 1862 and suffered a head wound in battle at Fre
