David Cockerham is probably the son of John Cockerham from the 1850 Macon County Census. His brother-in-law, Madison Cockerham, was the bondsman for his marriage to Rebecca Upton. I have a copy of this bond. Madison was married to David's sister Mira. David fits the profile for the son of John and with Madison being the bondsman it only makes sense that they were probably related. I do not know what happened to David unless he died before Rebecca left with her parents. I have all of the census records for John Cockerham and Madison Cockerham. I have not found any others for David after 1850. It seems like if he was still living after this he would have shown up in a census record somewhere or at least shown living with a relative. If you want any other info I have census records for his son John Thomas Cockerham who lived in Missouri along with his children. My e-mail address is trecelco3@aol.com.
