I would appreciate any help. The answer seems so close but so far away. I found this message on GenForum: "Teresa, maybe his middle name was David. David Cockerham came to Surry Co with his uncles Moses and William. David Cockerham served a tour of duty in the Rev War for his uncle William. Daniel is a name that is assoc. with the Humphrey Cockerham line and Daniel in Wilkes CO NC. I believe Moses may have had nephews that went to Rutherford Co NC, Minor Young Cockeherham." I am trying to learn more about this part of my family. Thomas J. Dawson married Isabelah Cockerham on 5 April 1832 in Rutherford Co., NC. She was the daughter of David Cockram and Sarah Coward who were married 13 January 1802 in Rutherford Co., NC. Right now, I am trying to find out who David's parents were and why a David didn't show up on the Rutherford Co. census until 1830. On 1790 census for Rutherford Co., NC, there were four Cochran households headed by James, Thomas, Thomas and Minor. On 1800 census for Rutherford Co., NC there were seven Cochran households headed by Elizabeth, James, James,, John, John, Minor and Thomas. On 1810 census for Rutherford Co., NC, there were five Cochran households headed by Henry, James, Minor, Robert and Thomas Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
