Here is one of the couples. These are the folks you mentioned who apparently stayed in Surry County. There are two (2) distinct Cockerham lines in North Carolina, one in Surry and one in Wilkes County. The Wilkes County one is mine and I think is where your folks fit. The folks pasted here are from the David Cockerham line and are the Surry County folks: David Cockerham and Mary Ann Burch, parents of: 6. John William Cockerham b. 1798 Surry Co. d. 30 Mar 1852 Surry Co. NC (ancestor of Ron Cochran) SEE NOTE BELOW m. (1) Elizabeth Hill 21 Mar 1821 (b. 26 Jul 1792 Surry Co. d. 1839, daughter of Joel Hill and Ann Watson and grand daughter of William Hill and Susannah Smither, believed to have been immigrants from England. 1. William Cockerham, Jr. b. ca 1830 2. Hughes Cockerham b. 1834 d. 1919 m. Hulda Snow 14 Dec 1851 3. Elizabeth Cockerham b. 4 Sep 1837 m. Richard C. White 4. Mary Ann Cockerham b. 23 Mar 1838 m. James S. Snow 1838-1864, son of Byrd Snow and Elizabeth Harris. Byrd was the son of Frost Snow Jr. and Elizabeth Ballard, dau. of Thomas Ballard of Albemarle Co. VA 1. Byrd Snow b. 1860 2. Carrie Snow b. 1863 5. Thomas W. Cockerham b. 8 Aug 1839 d. 13 Jun 1862 m. Elizabeth Snow 1. Plutina Cockerham 2. Thomas W. Cockerham Jr. m. (2) Mary Nancy Brock 27 Dec 1839 (bond) 1798-1866 Notes: John William Cockerham and Elizabeth Hill, listed above have the same names as ancestors of Corbet Cochran, Jr. whose John William was the son of Humphrey Cockerham. The list of children does not match the kids known to be the family of Corbet’s John William. I suspect this is a coincidence and two different families.
