From San Francisco, Aug. 17 --
-The news of the murderous assault on the Cloverdale stage by robbers, last night, the killing of T.H. BENTON and mortally wounding Lieutenant COFFIN, created quite an excitement here today. This is the 3rd time the stage has been attacked recently by robbers, being successful in the first 2 attacks. The parties here interested in stopping the business will probably offer a reward for the arrest of the robbers engaged in this attack.
