The Elusive Albert Coffin b. 1822 Freeport thence Phippsburg
Posted by: Ed Coffin (ID *****4856) Date: April 07, 2009 at 05:46:35
  of 2634

The progenitor of the Phippsburg Coffin's (Albert b. 24 July 1822 with no parental linkage)has his descendants on file at the Phippsburg Library claiming that George Washington Coffin is his daddy. However, George's wife (Joanna Brown)had a son George Henry b. Brunswick 23 Feb 1822, which makes the claim sort of unlikely (at least for being Albert's mother).

Albert's death record of 1906 lists parents as unknown, Perhaps unknown to the person making the form out.

We do have a candidate Albert's father and he is Nathan Coffin b. 1789 and married Dorothy Littlefield. A study of Nathan's census data shows several youngsters--Only those born in Greene have names attached. Using census data of Freeport, an un-named son of Nathan fits the date of Albert's birth (See Jacob Johnson Genealogy by Sinnett where he claims Albert is born in Freeport and married Elizabeth Jane Johnson).

Can anyone shed some light on albert's linkage?
