Not all Colsons have Northumberland Roots

I am the administrator of the Colson/Coulson/Colston Surname DNA study. Another popular email question is, "are my Colsons from Northumberland, as is suggested by that Website?" Firstly, there are no credible sources cited at "that Website." The owner of "that Website" appears to have based his statements on questionable resources. To be polite, I will say no more about the credibility of "that Website." Secondly, it doesn't appear that all with the Colson surname are related by blood. My Colson family lived in the Fenlands of England, not Northumberland. To date, I have one "Viking" haplotype and two distinct "Celtic" lines in my DNA study. Other than that, nothing else can be said with certainty. In time, additional genetic information may help sort out a mystery that is not answered by written historical records. The Websites that sell coat of arms are providing misinformation and meaningless souvenirs.
