Josiah Conder's parents were Thomas, bookseller, and Elizabeth (also nee Conder of the Leeds family). His paternal grandfather was Rev Dr John Conder (see the DNB), son of Jabez (c1680-1727), son of Richard (c1648-1718) Puritan and dairy farmer, son of another Richard (d.c1693) ditto, son of Edward Conder (d.c1615) of Kingston, Cambridgeshire. Edward is supposed to be descended from the Leeds Conders who are in turn supposed to be descended from the Westmorland (Terry Bank) Conders. Rev Dr John C was my 5 x great grandfather.Hew
