I can not vouch for the accuracy because there is a lot of speculation out on the internet, but check into the family of Samuel Crews (b. 1796 in SC) and Elizabeth Griffis (b. 1795 in SC). Records I have indicate they had a son named Elias born in 1834. Samuel and Elizabeth moved from SC to south Georgia (below Fargo and Needmore on the Suwanee River) then over into Baker County, FL. My wife descends from Asbury Crews, b. 1832 in SC, which I believe may be their son also.
