I believe the last time I found Stanley Crews was in 1850 in Greenwood, Abbeville, SC. I don't know a whole lot about Stanley but did see the entries you mentioned the books by the Wooley's "A collection of Upper SC Genealogical and Famil Records". I also know that Stephen Ross was a buyer at some of the Merriwether estate sales and that Stephen's daughter Isabella Ann Ross married Stanley's son Marcus A Crews. Isabella was Stephen's daughter by his 2nd wife Elizabeth Huggins who was the widow of Jacob Anderson prior to marrying Stephen. Stephen Ross had moved to Abbeville abt 1820 from the Sumter Co, SC area. His 1st wife was Sarah Ann Baxter.
I have not been able to figure out the connection to the Merriwether family to my Ross family as yet
