Sketches of William Hicks, Abner Hicks, Jasper Hicks, George Harris, James Crews, John Earl..etc says:
"The second child of James and Sarah Earl Crews was Mary E. Crews, born December 2nd, 1815. She married William O. Wright, a brother of John W. Wright and uncle of Mr. George Wright. They moved to Tennessee and had children, who in 1875, received their share of the estate of James Crews."
Their marriage is in the court records (1 Apr 1835) and I find Mary and William and 6 children in the 1850 census in District 1, Fayette, Tennessee - children Ann, James, Mary, Martha, Thomas and Tryphena.
By the 1860 census, Mary has died of typhoid (found her death certificate) and William is living with eight children in Johnson Co. TX. James is apparently not with the family any longer and the additonal children are George, John and Joshua. The youngest child (Joshua) is 2 years old and he and John were born in Texas. Next I have the death certificate of William who died of liver disease in September 1860.
So whatever happened to those children?
