Funeral services for Wilma Coffman were held Monday, February 28, 2005 in the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Chapel with Rev. Don Ratterree and Rev. Frank McCune officiating. Jerry and Irene Ratterree sang “I Need No Mansion Here,” and “If We Never Meet Again.” Pallbearers were Carl Williams, Dearl Willhite, Larry Willhite, Gary Alumbaugh, Robert Stewart, and Wallace Coffman. Burial was in the Green Mountain Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
Wilma F. Coffman, daughter of the late Simpson and Mary (Crewse) Willhite, was born on May 6, 1930 in Rayborn, Mo. in Wright County, and departed this life on February 24, 2005 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Mo., following an extended illness. She was 74 years, 9 months, and 18 days of age.
Wilma grew up and attended school in the Rayborn Community and was united in marriage to Almos Coffman on June 15, 1948 in Mountain Grove, MO. Three children were born to this union. They had made their home north of Mountain Grove all their life. Wilma enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. She was well known for her chicken and noodles. She also liked to attend area churches and singings. Her favorite pastime was playing her guitar and singing.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Willhite, Ira Willhite, and Samuel Willhite; one sister, Elveda Cantrell; and by an infant daughter. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Almos Coffman of their home; two sons, Dwayne Coffman of Mountain Grove, and Jerry Ham and his wife Donnelyn of Spokane, Wash.; one daughter, Karen Dugger and her husband Larry of Kennett, Mo.; one brother, Ual Willhite and his wife Hellene of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Jewell Alumbaugh of Mountain Grove; two grandchildren, Trenton and Payten; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
