John Nance was born abt 1811 in Tennessee and shows up with Francis Nance and Bird Nance in the 1840 census of Grape Grove and Marion Townships of Ray County, Missouri.
In the 1850 census in the area there were the following
Nance head of households; Thomas, Jackson, Bird and Elizabeth. John Nance married Charlotta Funk and had several children but may have been married before as there is an Albert Nance in the 1850 census who was 14.
Children from the census;
1850; Alfred age 14, Rachael age 1
John W. Funk was living with them in the 1850 census
1860; Josephine, age 8, Sarah Y.?, Charley, age 4 and Bird, age 3 married Lena Crocket 3-20-1890
1870; Jane age 13
John Nance died between 1870 and 1880 census.
