Davy Crockett / Stephens family

I read somewhere that a good friend and frequent traveling companion of Davy Crockett was a man with the last name of Stephens. I'm told that the Crocketts married into the Stephens family somewhere along that time frame. Does anyone have any information on this? If so, please contact me at mstep@msn.com Thank you.
