My GG grandfather was Robert Crockett. I find him on the 1880 census married to my known GGgrandmother Elizabeth Doughton from NC. They were married 20 May 1868 in McDowell County WV. Their daughter Polly is my Ggrandmother.
I find him on the 1870 census in the same place, Big Creek married with 1 child, Polly's eldest sister Nancy.
1n 1860 the only Robert Crockett I find od the correct age is the son of Adison Crockett. He is listed as Robert A Crockett 9 years old.
I can not find a 1890 census for WVa.
In 1900 I find him married to a woman named Anne still in Big Creek.
I know that he was married twice, he and Elizabeth were divorced. Now here is the problem. If you look at marriage records, it ONLY shows Robert A Crockett being married to a Susan Whitten. So How do I find who my Robert really is?? I'm very confused and frustrated. I cant get the divorce records on ancestry.com and I cant find a record that my Robert was married to Elizabeth as I know he was.
Do you have any thoughts?? This is driving me nuts!!
