Dianne,
Some great info that I did not have. Tilman is my brick wall. I have lots of info on him (your welcome to it) but I have no proof who his father is. I suspect it is one of the John Crockett's in Va during the mid to late 1700's. One fellow relatives stated that it was most likely the John Crockett who was born in 1730 aboard ship in Philly PA. I am not sure about this. It was common practice to name the first born son after his grandfather and since John T. Crockett was Tilman's first born there may be some basis for his father being John. However, like I said before, there are several John's.
Tilman moved to Cawaba Creek area in the 1790's and if you look at the map is it in the Great Calfpasture. Thus he could be related to Robert of the Great calfpasture through one of his sons. I believe Robert had a son named John who also had a son John. See the problem here. Tilman then moved to Tazewell Co. Va (listed in the Annuals of Tazewell Co) sometime around 1810. I have been to the court house and library in Tazewell and gathered a lot of information.
There also is a John from Wythe Co who moved to Tazewell that might be the right age. Who knows but I'll keep digging.
