I don't have the tree in front of me (I recently found a poster-sized tree going back a generation beyond Isom) but I believe that Jesse Newton may have been one of his children. William had a lot of kids, grandkids, etc, and Isom is listed as having had 6, but their brother John is listed as having had 18 (with no names listed on my tree) and their other brother Larkin, of whom I can find no information, had an unknown number. I don't know if Larkin died young or was estranged from the family.
As for Isom...ok, I just pulled up my Ancestry, he had James Wadsworth, Rufus Morgan, and William Jasper who are the ones specified by name on my family tree of the six that the tree maker knew of. In census records I also found Elizabeth Cordill and Lucy A. Cordill as his daughters. There is one other, Sarah Ann, but the birth years given for Elizabeth, Lucy A. and Sarah Ann all conflict, so there may have only been 2 daughters, but it is hard to say. So...Jesse Newton may have been, but I think that I saw that name somewhere on the tree, so Jesse may have actually been down one more generation, or maybe one of William or John's kids (if it is the same person, that is).
I can tell you that Isom's father was James Cordill, born in Rowan County, NC on 23 Apr 1775 (other people's trees list the year as 1765) who was married to a woman named Sarah (no surname known), born in Culpeper County, Virginia on 8 Jan 1765. That is as far as I have at the moment, I will try to check my tree when I get home regarding your ancestor.
