I can't help you much. I have seen a typescript at PANS from an E. A. Crockett, Sarnia Ontario, written in 1977. E.A. Crockett cites without date an article in the Halifax paper in a column "Early History of Pictou County." The article said that "Margaret Young was a sister of John Young and aunt of Sir William and George R. Young. She died Sept. 25, 1817, aged 74 years." The late J. Roy Smith of Antigonish, another MacDonald/Crockett descendant, who spent years researching the family, was confident that the story of Margaret Young and John Young's relationship was wrong. Let's hope someone out there who knows more can fill both of us in on the details.
